Title I is a federal program that serves schools throughout the United States. The Title I program was reauthorized under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (Public Law 107-110). The program provides extra help to students to assist them in meeting state and local education standards. The program serves millions of children in elementary and secondary schools each year. Most school districts participate. Funds are directed to schools with the highest poverty levels, measured by the number of students receiving free and reduced-price lunch.
